Puppy Parties

15 Briards.jpg

We love to invite our puppy people back for a get together. It gives us the chance to see how the pups are growing and developing, and to spot and help resolve any problems that might be emerging. It also gives the puppies' families an opportunity to  get to  know each other, compare notes, and swap ideas and tips.

It is not all upside, though. Who would dare to brave the "sausage corridor corridor of temptation ? And the egg and spoon races and musical sits are fiercely competed ! Check out a video of what goes on using this link

Puppy Party Ode

Growing Pains

We would like to  thank Liz and Alan Batten for the following "ode" to the puppy parties .......

Jo and Mario seem fairly sane

And I guess that they are in the main

But twice they’ve decided

(Common sense went lopsided)

To find lovely Magic a swain

Twenty-two puppies arrived in two batches

Bringing sleepless nights and some scratches

But those sweet little pups

Gave back tons of love

…and a few accidental wet patches

Big Mo and Miss Fizzy stayed home

The rest moved away (just on loan!)

New Vetbed was bought

Some manners were taught

And those hearts wrapped in fur settled down

The date for the party agreed

We brushed out the mats and the seeds

The Briards were preened

The husbands were cleaned

Lucky Fozzie was bought a new lead

We arrived to a sprinkling of rain

The humans felt that was a shame

But Briards don’t care

About spoiling their hair

And just threw themselves into a game

Musical sits was announced to the crowd

Little sausage-y treats were allowed

We all had great fun

Can’t remember who won (*)

But the dogs made all of us proud

We talked about Briards for hours

“Yours does that?  Oh my word, so does ours”

We swapped tips and stories

Of mischief and glories

And of Briards’ exuberant powers

The guests had a wonderful time

Fuelled by Pimms and some beer and some wine

The food was fantastic

(Thanks for waistbands, elastic)

And the sun finally started to shine

But sadly the day had to end

Said goodbye to our Briardist friends

Same time next year?

Can’t wait to hear

If a Briard you’d still recommend (**)

(* it wasn’t Fozzie, or we’d remember!)

(** of course we would!!)

A huge thank you to Jo and Mario for your wonderful hospitality…….but most of all, for trusting us all with Magic’s very special pups.
